Looking for something fun to do in Jacksonville this weekend?
Well, Northeast Florida has some good things happening October 16–18!
We’ve got the Blue Angels, Greek food, waterfront markets, live music, and a few easy outings for anyone who just wants to get out and enjoy the weekend.
Here are some of my favorites!
✈️ The Blue Angels Are Back!
The NAS Jacksonville Air Show returns Saturday and Sunday!
This free event features military and civilian aircraft demonstrations, including the famous Blue Angels.
Gates open at 9 AM, and the show begins at 11 AM.
It’s always exciting to see these incredible pilots in action!
Just remember that this is a popular event, so expect crowds, walking, and plenty of noise.
🇬🇷 A Little Taste of Greece in St. Augustine
This might be my favorite day-trip idea this weekend!
The St. Augustine Greek Festival is happening Saturday and Sunday at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
Enjoy authentic Greek food, homemade pastries, traditional dancing, live music, and shopping.
Admission is free, and complimentary shuttle service is available from the designated parking area.
🌊 Saturday Morning in Mayport
Looking for something a little more relaxed?
The Mayport Waterfront Market is happening Saturday from 10 AM–2 PM.
Browse local vendors, pick up fresh produce or baked goods, and enjoy the coastal atmosphere.
You could even make a morning of it and grab seafood for lunch.
Sometimes the simplest outings are the best!
🍂 Oktoberfest at Jacksonville Beach
If you’re ready for a little fall fun, Beaches Oktoberfest returns Friday and Saturday.
Enjoy live music, German-inspired food, local vendors, and a festive atmosphere near the ocean.
General admission is free.
It’s a fun option for a date night or an afternoon with friends.
🎨 Art, Shopping, and River Views
Two more easy Jacksonville options:
Riverside Arts Market is open Saturday from 10 AM–3 PM with local artists, produce, handmade goods, food, and entertainment.
Or head downtown to MOCA Jacksonville, where admission is free every Saturday from 11 AM–5 PM.
Both are great choices if you want something fun without spending a lot.
🎶 Enjoy Some Live Music
Saturday brings two more free options.
Live at the Bandstand takes place at Brentwood Park from 3–7 PM with local performers and food trucks.
Or enjoy Saturday Sounds at Friendship Fountain from 6–9 PM.
Grab dinner nearby and enjoy the beautiful downtown riverfront.
🌿 Take a Walk in Nature
Not every weekend outing needs to be a big event.
The Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens is a wonderful place to enjoy fresh air, beautiful scenery, and a peaceful walk.
Admission is just $3 per adult.
For something a little different, there’s also a free guided nature outing at River-to-Sea Preserve near Marineland on Saturday morning.
🚗 Take a Little Road Trip
Want to get out of Jacksonville for the day?
Head north to Fernandina Beach for the Saturday farmers market and lunch downtown.
Or visit Wildlight Market Place in Yulee.
If you prefer music, St. Augustine is hosting a Seafood and Jazz Festival on Saturday afternoon.
There are plenty of options for a fun day without traveling too far from home.
Enjoy Your Weekend!
One of the things I love about living in Jacksonville is having so many choices.
We can spend the morning at the beach, explore a new market, enjoy live music, or take a short drive and discover something different.
And that’s part of what makes life after 55 in Northeast Florida so much fun!
So grab a friend, make some plans, and enjoy your weekend.
Which activity would you choose?
Whether you are right-sizing, relocating, retiring, or simply looking for more ways to enjoy life after 55, Jacksonville has plenty to offer.
