Hurricane season officially runs June through November, but that doesn’t mean six months of storms. Most years, Jacksonville sees a direct hit far less often than people expect — our stretch of coastline has historically been spared more than areas further south. That said, “less often” isn’t “never,” so it’s worth understanding what to expect rather than worrying about it in the abstract.

• Timing your move itself. If you’re relocating between June and November, it’s smart to build in a little flexibility around your closing and move dates, just in case a storm is tracking toward the coast that week.
