Things to Do in Jacksonville This Weekend for Active Adults 55+ | September 11–13

Here it is…another weekend and another reason to get out and enjoy Northeast Florida!

This weekend has a little bit of everything. There’s beach time, live music, markets, art and even a good day-trip option.

Spend Some Time at the Beach

Florida Fin Fest takes over Seawalk Pavilion Friday and Saturday.

This free festival combines live music with ocean conservation, vendors and beach activities. There’s even a beach cleanup if you’d like to get involved.

You could make a day of it with Fin Fest, a walk on the beach and lunch or dinner nearby.

Yoga, Shopping & Classical Music at RAM

Saturday morning at Riverside Arts Market sounds especially good this week.

Start with free yoga from 9–10 AM along the St. Johns River. Then stay for the market from 10 AM–3 PM.

This week’s River Stage celebrates Classical Music Month. Performances include the Jacksonville Symphony Brass Quintet, UNF Opera Singers and Jacksonville Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Shop local, grab lunch and enjoy the music. That’s a pretty easy Saturday plan.

Try Something Different at the Beaches

The Beaches Museum is hosting Riding the Rails: Pablo Beach Train Day Saturday from 10 AM–2 PM.

There will be operating model trains, historic buildings to explore and a Cars Through the Decades show.

Pair it with lunch at the beach and you’ve got an easy afternoon outing.

Catch Art in Bloom Before It Ends

If you prefer something a little quieter, head to the Cummer Museum.

This is the final weekend of Art in Bloom, which combines nature-inspired art with the beauty of the Cummer’s riverfront gardens.

It would make a lovely afternoon outing with lunch in Riverside.

Saturday Night at Friendship Fountain

Finish Saturday with Saturday Sounds at Friendship Fountain from 6–9 PM.

Since it’s the second Saturday of the month, the evening features smooth jazz. There will also be food trucks and beautiful nighttime views along the river.

Best part? It’s free.

Take a Fernandina Beach Day Trip

Want to get out of town without going too far?

Head north to Fernandina Beach Saturday morning. Both the farmers market and arts market run from 9 AM–1 PM.

The Amelia Island Dance Festival is also happening this weekend.

Browse the markets, have lunch downtown and take a walk toward the waterfront. Sometimes that’s all you need for a good Saturday.

If you’re exploring Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra, St. Johns, Nocatee, St. Augustine, or the Beaches for your next chapter, weekend outings like these are a great way to experience the lifestyle — not just the homes.

Whether you are right-sizing, relocating, retiring, or simply looking for more ways to enjoy life after 55, Jacksonville has plenty to offer.
